Норвежский лес
Когда-то изысканно отделанные деревянные церкви были распространены по всей северо-западной Европе. Но практически все сохранившиеся до наших дней каркасные церкви находятся в Норвегии.

Деревянное зодчество викингов

Викинги, будучи искусными строителями домов и кораблей, внесли большой вклад в развитие традиции работы по дереву. Деревянные ставкирки стали главным достижением норвежских мастеров последующих веков.

Существует несколько видов каркасных церквей, но их объединяет общая черта – наличие угловых опорных столбов («stav» – стойка, столб) и каркаса из горизонтального бруса, лежащего на каменном или деревянном основании.

Стены состоят из вертикальных столбов, соединенных друг с другом брусьями. Отсюда название «ставкирка» – каркасная, мачтовая или столбовая церковь.

Деревянные двери и шпили церквей богато украшены резьбой. Внутреннее и внешнее убранство сочетает в себе христианские и языческие мотивы, включая изображения животных и драконов.

Открыты для посещения

Сейчас в Норвегии осталось 28 деревянных церквей. Как видно на карте внизу, большинство церквей расположены во внутренних регионах Восточной Норвегии и Региона фьордов.

Большинство из них открыты для посещения в летний период, но есть и те, что открыты круглый год.
