Breathtaking trip to Tempelfjorden, where lies the magnificent Tunabreen glacier. A true Svalbard classic adventure !
This is a classical full day trip (7-8 hours) with a lot of great experiences. The route goes to the northeast out of Longyearbyen, through Adventdalen along the border of the unmotorized area. After passing the wide Sassendalen we will stop by the old trappers’ cabin at Fredheim, at the inlet to Tempelfjorden, the most beautiful fjord at Nordenskiöldland. Surrounded by fabulous mountains we drive on the fjord ice, and here we have good opportunities of seeing seals resting on the ice. Sometimes we will also discover polar bear tracks, especially around icebergs where the bears hunt for seals. Lunch will be served next to the magnificent, blue ice front of the Tunabreen, at the head of Tempelfjorden. On our way back home we will – if the conditions allow it- pick another route -along the south side of the Sassenfjorden, or maybe pay a visit in Nøisdalen, a canyon with thousands of nesting birds. We will return to Longyearbyen at approximately 18. 00. The trip is about 130 kilometres to drive.
A valid driver’s licence for car or motorbike is required to drive a snowmobile. Remember to take it with you on the tour. The passenger does not need to have a driver’s licence.
