In 2002, at the height of the civil war in Colombia, photographer Rune Eraker got access to a prison in Bogotá, the country's capital city. He wanted to document the conditions under which political prisoners and FARC-members were kept. While the guards turned their backs on Eraker for just a few seconds, he took a picture of one prisoner sitting in solitary confinement. The prisoner reached through the bars of his cell an gave the photographer whom he did not know a crumpled-up piece of paper. On it, he had written the words: "Tell the world about us". Sixteen years later, this request has become an exhibition at the Nobel Peace Center.

Eraker has spent four years traveling to over 18 countries. He has gotten access to heavily guarded prisons in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the USA - and Norway. He has met people that have been forced to live in exile, like Edward Snowden and the Dalai Lama. In Latin America he has followed the fate of women that have been imprisoned after having an abortion, homosexuals that live in hiding in Russia and young girls in Nairobi that are exposed to rape and brutal abuse. What everyone portrayed in the exhibition has in common is that they have all been deprived of their freedom whilst they are fighting to keep their dignity.
